Baked Artichokes

The artichoke is a great source of nutrients beneficial to health, they have folic acid and vitamin C, which are so necessary for our body. In this recipe we teach you how to prepare baked artichokes, one of the best choices to cook them.

It stands out for being very low in calories, perfect for people trying to lose weight or want to keep the line. Artichokes can be prepared in many different ways.

It is an incredibly nutritious as well as versatile food. We can cook them in many ways and combine them with the ingredients that we like the most.

In this case, we will propose two recipes for baked artichokes to which we can add whatever we like the most.

Option 1: Baked artichokes

Ingredients:

  • A dozen artichokes.
  • Virgin olive oil.
  • Fine salt

Process:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190ºC.
  2. Cut the stem of the artichokes along with a bit of its base to make it flat and keep it standing without falling.
  3. Cut the top of each artichoke and press it so that the leaves open a little and separate from each other. Some people remove the outermost leaves from artichokes, but that is a matter of taste.
  4. Once all the artichokes are prepared, place them upright in a baking dish in an orderly manner,  leaving a little space between them so that they cook better.
  5. Sprinkle them with olive oil on top and add a pinch of salt to each one. Bake for approximately three quarters of an hour.
  6. As the time to remove them approaches, check that they have been roasted well and remove them when deemed appropriate. Let them cool for a few minutes.
  7. If they are very dry, they can be drizzled again with olive oil or a little lemon.

Option 2: Baked artichokes with ham

Ingredients:

  • 12 artichokes.
  • Extra virgin olive oil.
  • Pinions.
  • Peppers.
  • One garlic clove.
  • Bread crumbs.
  • Salt.
  • Serrano ham in cubes (200 g).

Process:

  1. Preheat the oven to 160ºC.
  2. Remove the outer leaves from the artichokes, hit them on a wooden board on the side of the leaves so that they open (being careful not to crush them) and place them with the base down in a baking dish.
  3. Water the artichokes with a good drizzle of olive oil and salt them.
  4. Sprinkle them with breadcrumbs, some pine nuts, a little sweet paprika, some sliced ​​garlic and the ham cubes.
  5. Bake for 15 to 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and plate as desired.

As we have said before, you can prepare these baked artichokes as a base and add the ingredients that you consider appropriate or season them to taste. Try different versions and get out of the routine to eat this product.
